Last week, CEO Malin Collin, together with the Port of Rostock and Stena Line, participated in a meeting in the Parliament in Berlin to highlight the importance of the Trelleborg–Rostock rail ferry connection, which is a critical part of Europe’s infrastructure.
For us, this corridor is more than just a transport link.
✔ It strengthens supply chains in times of uncertainty
✔ It is optimal for heavy and bulky freight
✔ It is part of the EU initiative “Blue Supply Chains”, which promotes greener logistics solutions.
✔ Stena Line’s two rail ferries keep freight moving between Sweden and Germany with around 40 departures a week
In order to remain competitive, modern and efficient infrastructure is required – on both sides of the Baltic Sea.
We therefore welcome the fact that the Swedish government has raised the issue at the highest level and commissioned the Swedish Transport Administration to investigate the future of the rail ferries, both from a supply, preparedness and defence perspective. As Sweden’s only port with regular rail ferry traffic, we are a unique node for trade, security of supply and a robust society.
Our mission is not just about meeting today’s increased freight flows – but about building the capacity and resilience needed for the future.
