On 25th May 2018, the new data protection regulation (also known as GDPR – General Data Protection Regulation) will replace the Swedish Data Protection Act. Here you can read about how Port of Trelleborg handles personal data and what rights you have as a registered person.
Personal data is information that can be linked to a person. It may be a name, but it may also be information that, in combination with other data, makes it possible to identify a person.
The following are examples of personal data:
- a name
- a postal address
- an e-mail address
- location information
- bank details
- a photo (if you can identify the person in the picture)
- an update on social media
Throughout this article we use the term “processing”, which covers all the various actions involving personal data, i.e. collection, handling, storage, sharing, access, use, transfer and deletion.
Purposes of processing your personal data
Port of Trelleborg processes personal data when we need to do so according to applicable legislation in our various areas of activity or when it is necessary to perform a task. In connection with data collection, you will be informed about why we process your personal data, the legal basis for this and how long we will keep the data.
Withdrawing consent
In the event that the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you will be entitled to withdraw (revoke) your consent that you have given to Port of Trelleborg at any time.
To withdraw (revoke) consent, please contact Port of Trelleborg using the contact details found on this page. You must indicate why you are choosing to withdraw your consent. Once you have withdrawn (revoked) your consent, we will cease to process your personal information for the purpose in question. You also have the right to request the deletion of your personal data in connection with the revocation of consent.
In cases where the processing has a legal basis other than consent and we have a legal requirement to store personal data for a certain period of time, we cannot delete your personal information.
Your rights
Trelleborg Municipality will take action in accordance with applicable law to keep your personal information accurate, complete, protected and updated. You are entitled to correction of incomplete or incorrect personal data.
Right to information
You are entitled to access the personal information that Port of Trelleborg has about you. You can do this by requesting a registry extract. This shows what personal data we are processing.
Right to oppose processing
If you experience that your personal information is used incorrectly by the Port of Trelleborg, you are entitled to object to the processing at any time.
Right to deletion of data
Under certain conditions, such as when you have revoked prior consent and/or there is no legal basis for the continued processing of your personal information, you are entitled to request the deletion of your personal information. In cses where we have legal requirements to store certain personal data, this right to deletion does not apply.
Right to processing limitation
You may, under certain conditions, limit the processing of your personal data to include only the storage of personal data, such as while the Port of Trelleborg is investigating if you are entitled to deletion.
Right of access
You are entitled to receive a confirmation from Port of Trelleborg that your personal data is processed by Port of Trelleborg and, if so, access to your personal data and the following information:
- Why we process data
- What personal data we process
- Who receives personal data (especially if outside the EU/EEA)
- For how long is your personal data processed?
- Information about what rights you have
- Information about where the personal data has been collected from
- In the event of automated decision making, including profiling
Port of Trelleborg is entitled to charge a fee if you request more than one copy of your personal information.
Right to data portability
When your personal data is processed because you have given your consent or because the processing is necessary to complete or conclude an agreement with you, and provided that your personal data has been collected directly from you, you are entitled to receive a copy of your personal data in a commonly used machine-readable format.
Rights in relation to automated decision making, including profiling
You are entitled not to be subject to fully automated decision-making, including profiling, if such decision-making has legal consequences or significantly affects you. This right is not applicable if the automated decision-making is necessary to fulfill an agreement with you, whether the decision is expressly permitted by law or if you have expressly consented to this.
Complaints to the supervisory authority
Please feel free to contact us with any questions or complaints regarding the processing of your personal information. However, you also always have the right to make complaints regarding the processing of your personal data to the Data Inspectorate.
