The route Trelleborg-Sassnitz will resume in 2023

Port of Trelleborg is looking forward to 2023 when we will be able to offer the route Trelleborg-Sassnitz again. At the same time, we look forward to welcoming FRS Baltic as a new customer in the port.

New customer – FRS Baltic
The FRS Baltic high-speed ferry is currently operating between Sassnitz and Ystad but will change course next year and sail to Sassnitz from Port of Trelleborg. The high-speed catamaran “Skane Jet” carries more than 600 passengers and up to 200 vehicles in just 2.5 hours and is thus the fastest connection by sea from Sweden to Germany. FRS Baltic will offer day trips to Bordershop during April-October 2023, but also night departures during the summer months.

The King’s Route will be resumed
The King’s Route between Trelleborg and Sassnitz was inaugurated on July 6, 1909 by King Gustaf V and the German Emperor Wilhelm II. The route Trelleborg-Sassnitz was shut down in 2020 due to the corona pandemic. The catamaran Skane Jet will use ferry berth No. 7 which was previously used for train ferry traffic, but which has now been converted to a functional RoRo berth for rolling traffic.

Five destinations in Europe
Port of Trelleborg has a unique geographical location and serves today the destinations Rostock, Travemünde, Swinoujscie and Klaipeda.

– The best RoRo port in Europe can once again offer as many as five routes to Europe, which no other Swedish port can. It will make many residents in Trelleborg happy that the route to Sassnitz is back, while it will promote the tourism as well, says Jörgen Nilsson, CEO of Port of Trelleborg.
