New rail line from China

Port of Trelleborg, together with its partner port in Rostock has developed a transport concept that provides a better, faster and more reliable transport option between China and the Scandinavian countries. On April 7, the first container ship arrived at Port of Rostock on the new “silk road” railway – sea.

A total of 49 containers with final destination Germany, Italy and Sweden arrived. The transport started in Chinese Xian and continued its route via Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Lithuania to the Russian port of Kaliningrad. There, the train was unloaded and reloaded to the short Baltic Sea container shuttle under Mann Line’s direction.

Today, on April 8, the Swedish units arrived at Port of Trelleborg and reach their recipients today.

With this transport arrangement, the transit time is further cut against today’s other options for land transports from China.

The ports in Rostock and Trelleborg have worked together to start a line that is attractive to the Scandinavian market. Stena Line and TT-Line operate Trelleborg-Rostock with regular and daily departures which enables efficient, fast and reliable transports to the Scandinavian customers.

In the coming week, the next container shuttle is expected to arrive at Port of Rostock.
