On Saturday, September 18, we look forward to welcoming the cruise ship M / S Bolette which will enter Port of Trelleborg for the first time! The cruise industry has had a challenging period during the corona pandemic and several planned cruise calls in Port of Trelleborg have been canceled. In total, Port of Trelleborg has had three cruise calls in recent years by the ship M / S Artania, with mostly German passengers. This time, it is mainly British passengers who visit Sweden’s southernmost city.
Estimated arrival time is at 8 am and estimated departure is at 6 pm at the new ferry berth 14, furthest to the east. The cruise ship M / S Bolette is 238 meters long and takes a maximum of 1,200 passengers and about 615 crew.
Put Trelleborg on the map
“It is very gratifying for both the port and the city that more people choose Port of Trelleborg for cruises and that we can put Trelleborg on the map. Previously, we could not accommodate large cruise ships, but thanks to our port expansion and new longer ferry berths, it now works smoothly. We are not primarily a cruise port but a RoRo port, but if we receive inquiries and have the opportunity, we happily welcome cruise calls”, says Jörgen Nilsson, CEO Port of Trelleborg.
All passengers are vaccinated
There are about 550 passengers on board, mainly British as M / S Bolette departed from Dover. All passengers have been vaccinated in the UK and have shown a negative covid-19 test.
Focus on a positive experience of Sweden’s southernmost city
When the passengers arrive in Trelleborg, they will be able to choose between the following tours:
* Trelleborgen (Viking fortress) and city walk
* Bus tour in the surroundings and Smygehuk
* Shuttles to Hamngatan 9 for passengers who want to stroll around Trelleborg on their own.
* Malmö
“We will receive the guests at the ferry terminal on Hamngatan 9. Through a clear presence and good hospitality, we will make sure to highlight Trelleborg’s sights and shopping in the center which can attract increased consumption”, says Maarja Edman, CEO of Visit Trelleborg, who is sure that the guests will have a positive experience of Sweden’s southernmost city before returning to Dover.
