Increased capacity with our new ferry berths and Green Ships

Exactly one year ago, TT-Line’s new Green Ship Peter Pan made its debut in Port of Trelleborg.

Peter Pan is TT-Line’s 9th vessel in the fleet and their second Green Ship, which can be powered by LNG (Liquid Natural Gas).

The ship is 230 m long and just like its sister ship Nils Holgersson, which made its first call in April 2022, Peter Pan has room for 800 passengers and just over 200 vehicles.

Port of Trelleborg’s relocation and expansion is being done, among other things, to be able to receive new, larger vessels, so we are of course very happy about the two new, modern and efficient Green Ships, with increased capacity.

The investment in our new ferry berths and marshalling yards makes it possible to meet increases of the volume of goods and passenger traffic in the future in Scandinavia’s largest RoRo port for rolling traffic.

The Port of Trelleborg is an important node for Sweden’s imports and exports and is, with its geographical location, the closest port to the European market.

Ferry berths no.11 and 12 are one of the activities in the port’s EU project “Green FIT 2025” which is co-financed by the EU.

”The “Green FIT 2025” project includes works implemented during 2021-2024. The port builds two new large berths for next-generation Ro-Pax vessels and installs shore-side electricity connections. Also, it secures supply of clean energy for ships, port operations (and city hydrogen production) by installing two wind turbines. At the new berths, two wastewater reception facilities are deployed. A port wastewater treatment plant is constructed to allow for management of ship waste in an environmentally friendly manner. The port rail connections are reconstructed in a new layout, to ensure a faster handling of intermodal trains.”
