2024 is the year of “the traveler” in Port of Trelleborg and we have therefore started a project that we call “Truck driver Ambassadors”.
Bartlomiej from Poland, Edwin from Holland, Karel from Czech Republic, Muresam from Romania, Igor from Serbia and Jan Herman from Holland are Port of Trelleborg’s new truck driver ambassadors! What these men have in common is that they are regular truck drivers in Port of Trelleborg and travel with our shipping customers TT-Line, Unity Line and Stena Line. Some of them are here several times a week, and the others a couple of times a month.
The purpose of the project is for the truck driver ambassadors to agree on what works well in Port of Trelleborg, but also to come up with suggestions on what can be improved. This is so that we can develop, improve and take further steps to create an even better experience for both drivers and passengers, the short time that you are in the port area.
The best thing about traveling via Port of Trelleborg
Last spring we met all the truck driver ambassadors. This is what they think is the best thing about the Port of Trelleborg:
“The best thing is that it is very easy and smooth to get into the port. I book in advance and get a pin code for my mobile and then I get a ticket from the ticket station, they scan my license plate and then I can just drive through.”
“Quick and smooth check-in and that things flow well inside the port.”
“Large parking and close to shipping offices”
“The system of parking the trailer here is great. I drive up to the gate, open the window, put the tin number and just drive in.”
“Self-check-in with TT-Line works very well. In Poland I have to go to the office twice which takes time, so it is a very smart and convenient solution here.”
“Close to ICA Maxi”
Improved actions thanks to our truck driver ambassadors
We have also received their suggestions for improvements in the port and we are pleased that we have now been able to address the following:
– We have arranged a 15-minute parking lot after driving off the ferries on the way out, at the solar park
– We have put up more signs with symbols for waste containers
– We have put up more signs with symbols for toilets and have also raised them so that truck drivers can see them more easily.
– Some new asphalting
– As an action to reduce queues at TT-Line’s freight office, the Port of Trelleborg plans in collaboration with TT-Line, to streamline TT-Line’s automatic check-in. Update will take place in 2025.
– We have also increased the cleaning of the toilets and we will also update the map on our website
Port of Trelleborg will continue to have continuous contact with our driver ambassadors for further dialogue.
