As a step in our aim of becoming the climate smartest in the Baltic Sea, Port of Trelleborg has made a change from natural gas to biogas in half of the properties. The remaining properties have mainly district heating.
What is the difference between biogas and natural gas? Biogas is entirely renewable, while natural gas is produced from fossil fuels. The biogas contains 100 percent methane gas while natural gas contains 90 percent methane gas and the rest propan and botangas (LPG).
Based on previous years’ consumption Port of Trelleborg will make an environmentally saving of carbon dioxide emissions by about 183 tons / year.
