The Port of Trelleborg delivers good figures for 2023

Europe’s best RoRo port in Trelleborg has delivered very good figures in 2023 as well, despite all the difficulties in our world around us with war, inflation and increased interest rates.

All time high for passenger cars
In 2023, roughly 1.7 million people passed through Port of Trelleborg, which is an increase of 5 percent compared to 2022.

The number of passenger cars made all time high and increased by 9.7 percent compared to 2022, which means that almost 410,000 cars passed through Trelleborg.

A contributing factor to the increase in passenger cars and passengers in the previous year is that the popular route Trelleborg-Sassnitz (the King’s Route) was resumed in 2023 with FRS Baltic’s high-speed catamaran Skane Jet.

As far as the freight traffic is concerned, the number of units has decreased by 5.4 percent, which in relation to other ports can be described as a very good result. This means that 827,000 units have passed through the Port of Trelleborg.

The number of trailers on rail increases every year
Our traffic by rail has been very successful, where the conventional traffic has increased by 48.1 percent, which means 27,000 wagons. As for the intermodal traffic (trailers on rail), it has again increased by 12.4 percent, which means that 40,000 trailers have traveled via rail.

The Port of Trelleborg has a great commitment to intermodal transports and we believe in continued positive development in this area as it is the most environmentally friendly way to transport your goods.

Europe’s most sustainable RoRo port
Furthermore, in 2023, we have continued our work with sustainable investments where an own wastewater treatment plant and the starting point for the construction of two own wind turbines in the port are some of our most important measures. These measures are part of our work of being Europe’s most sustainable RoRo port.

The result for the company will be presented later when the annual report is official, but we can inform that our result is beyond expectations.

Port of Trelleborg is looking forward to a new year with continued confidence from our shipping customers and their customers and with our unique geographical location, Scandinavia’s largest RoRo port can continue to offer no less than five destinations in Europe – Travemünde, Rostock, Sassnitz, Swinoujscie and Klaipeda.
