New environmentally adapted reach stacker

Port of Trelleborg’s latest addition to the vehicle fleet is a new environmentally adapted reach stacker (lift truck) of brand Konecranes SMV 4538 CCX4. Reach stackers are used for lifting combination units from / to railway wagons and trucks, and can lift up to 45 tonnes and weigh 91 tonnes. As part of being the Baltic’s climate smartest port, factors such as noise and emissions requirements have been important. Konecranes Lifttrucks AB was the company that, through public procurement, was able to respond and meet these requirements at a lower price, and where service and maintenance is also an important parameter.

On Tuesday, May 23, there was a large opening and handover of the truck at the factory in Markaryd with representatives from Trelleborgs Hamn AB, Konecranes Lifttrucks AB and the sales company Brubakken AB. It turned out to be the 6000th truck Port of Trelleborg bought and this would Konecranes Lifttrucks celebrate with festivities.

All Konecranes machines are uniquely adapted for the customer and Port of Trelleborg has been involved in drawing up the specifications of the reach stacker according to our requirements. The engine on the new reach stacker goes on a lower lap which results in less fuel consumption and thus lower emissions. It is a Scania engine, environmental grade step 4 for work machines (equivalent to Euro 6 for example lorries) and meets the latest requirements regarding emissions. It is also quieter, which was another important requirement for us.

“Since the intermodal terminal operations is close to the city and dwellings, there has been an additional requirement for sound isolation on the reach stacker to reduce noise levels, which Konecranes Lifttrucks AB has been able to meet,” says Göran Hall, Vehicle Manager at Port of Trelleborg.

Delivery of the reach stacker to Port of Trelleborg takes place in week 22.
