Today we passed a new milestone when our new wind turbines arrived by sea from Bremen in Germany with FWN Atlantic.
It is the German wind power company ENERCON that will build Port of Trelleborg’s two wind turbines. We are looking forward to week 43 when the wind turbines will be installed and keeping our fingers crossed for fine weather with only light wind!
The wind turbines will be 120 meters high up to the tip of the blades and they will produce about 15 million kWh per year. With the establishment of its own wind turbines, the port will be self-sufficient in self-produced energy, that will supply the port’s future energy needs such as, for example, shore power of vessels.
The goal is for the wind turbines to be ready and spinning by the turn of the year 2024/2025.
The wind turbines are one of the activities in the port’s EU project “Green FIT 2025”, which is co-financed by the EU.
